Join ten-year-old Chihiro as she accidentally becomes trapped in a spirit world governed by the formidable sorceress Yubaba, who transforms her parents into pigs. To rescue them and return home, she must work in a bathhouse, meeting unusual creatures and discovering her inner strength along the way.
After a highly successful sold-out tour in Japan,* Spirited Away* will transfer to London with the original Japanese cast taking the stage. Kanna Hashimoto and Mone Kamishiraishi will alternate in the role of Chihiro.
John Caird (Les Miserables) will direct the stage adaptation, based on the Academy Award-winning 2001 film, in collaboration with Maoko Imai.
The show's production will incorporate English captions, a live orchestra performing Joe Hisaishi's score (arranged by Brad Haak), and creative elements such as set design by Jon Bausor, imaginative puppets by Toby Olié, choreography by Shigehiro Ide, and costumes by Sachiko Nakahara.
Spirited Away is the second stage adaptation of a Studio Ghibli movie, with My Neighbour Totoro debuting at the Barbican Centre in 2022. Due to popular demand, My Neighbour Totoro will return to the Barbican Centre in 2023 after smashing box office records in its original run.

See it if A terrific adaptation of one of the most enchanting and beautiful pieces of animation. The setpieces are fantastic and the cast are amazing.
Don’t see it if It is very faithful to the original film, so perhaps avoid if the film wasn't your thing.

See it if You love the film, you want to see incredible set, puppetry and choreography. The performers were magical. Plot was easy to understand.
Don’t see it if You hate the idea of a 3hr subtitled show. The show is set in a fantasy world with spirits and gods with powers - potentially confusing?
