Early life and education
Carley grew up in Long Valley, born to Zulma M. Shimkus who worked as a flight attendant, and Edward Shimkus, a businessman – they met while Edward was on one of Zulma’s flights. Margot Shimkus is the name of Carley’s older sister and is an art teacher as well as an artist.
Carley became interested in journalism at the age of nine, and her passion led her to enroll at Quinnipiac University from which she graduated in 2009 with a bachelor’s degree in journalism. She also spent a semester studying broadcast journalism at George Washington University in 2008.
Career as a news anchor and a reporter
Carley began modelling while she was still attending high school, but soon quit as she wanted to focus on her education. She launched her career as a reporter while in her junior year at Quinnipiac University, as she began working for Fox News network based in Washington, D.C. She also worked at the Bureau of D.C. in 2008, before becoming a full-time news anchor and a reporter.
After finishing her internship with Fox News, she began working as a co-producer on the syndicated “Imus in the Morning” radio and later TV show, then in 2012 went back to work for Fox’s Business Network. She has also appeared in numerous other shows, such as “24/7 Headlines”, “Fox & Friends”, and “Media Buzz”.

Carley and Peter Buchigani met while she was celebrating her 23rd birthday on 7 November 2009, but the two didn’t begin dating until 2013 – they married two years later on 8 August 2015 at a ceremony organized in New Jersey.
Carley and Peter are not living together as they are working in different cities – Carley in New York and Peter in Chicago. Some sources suggested that the two weren’t willing to start a family, as they are both working on their careers, however, they welcomed son Brock in February 2023 – although wanting to balance work and family, Carly has hired a nanny to helpout.

He spent his entire childhood in Bloomington with his parents – his father worked as a lawyer and his mother was a housewife. He was very sporting during those years at university, playing as a defensive end in American Football for three years, and was also a member of the university’s basketball team for two years.

He launched his career in sales soon after obtaining his degree, working as a sales analyst for Barclays Capital in New York City – he was part of their team until 2011, and then switched to Deutsche Bank where he stayed for the next three years. He is currently working for Amherst Pierpoint Securities in their Business Development sector in Chicago.
Just as Carley, Peter is a huge fan of the Michigan University Wolverines football team– the two incorporated the Wolverines’ fight song into their wedding, walking out while it was playing.
They visited the Michigan Stadium in June 2016 and were allowed to enter the football team’s locker room – they captured the moment and shared the picture on their Twitter accounts.
Carley’s likes and other interests
Carley enjoys dressing up for Halloween, and has dressed as a baseball ball this year. She is fit, and has several training sessions at the gym each week and occasionally uploads pictures from the gym onto her Instagram account. She’s also quite fashionable and shares her outfit choices on her online accounts as well.

Both she and her husband love to travel, and have recently been to London, England which is Carley’s favorite travel destination. The two have toured Greece and Scotland together, while they’ve also visited Australia – they spent a couple of days in Switzerland in August 2018. Carley is an avid dancer as she began taking dancing classes while still attending elementary school – her favorite genres of music are jazz and blues, and she enjoys listening to the saxophone the most.
She’s very fond of sports and grew up playing soccer and later became a cheerleader – baseball is now her favorite sport, and she recently covered the Congressional Baseball Game for the Fox News network.
